I'm still mad about how it ended, and I can't find that many fix-it fics to my liking, so I'm making a letter to cope. Maybe by the next time I join a multifandom exchange involving Stranger Things, I'll use this. Or maybe I'll use this list of prompts to eventually write a fic about my feelings.

DNW

All my usual DNW's plus the following:

  • El dying in the finale, UNLESS El sacrificed herself so that Kali could live, and the fic is about Kali learning to live when she had intended to die.
  • Requited Byler. Will going through unrequited pining is okay.
  • Will/female characters
  • Elmike-focused fics. They can be a background ship, but I don't want them to be the focus.
  • Lumax breakup post season-4. I'd rather they never got back together.
  • Graphic depictions of childbirth.

Prompts

  • Kali survives alongside El, and wherever they go into hiding, they go together.
  • Max still needing mobility aids by the time of her high school graduation, as opposed to her being fully healed.
  • Max and/or one or more of the twelve kidnapped kids developing powers since they spent so much time in Vecna's head.
  • Will keeping his powers after the fight with the Mind Flayer, and it turns out to not just be a connection to the hive mind.
  • El went into hiding relatively nearby either Hawkins or wherever one of the Party members ended up. She comes out of hiding when Dr. Kay kidnaps Will (or another kid who developed powers).
  • Instead of dying, El got hurtled back in time to soon after Henry first made contact with the Mind Flayer. Now, she has to prevent him from becoming One.
  • El goes into hiding, but she still communicates with her family and friends via their dreams.
  • A pregnant lady gives birth to a relatively healthy baby in the Upside Down. El and Kali can't bring themselves to kill the baby, so they stick around to protect them instead. If you want the lady to die in childbirth or otherwise not want to/be able to take care of her kid, then I'd love if Steve adopts the baby.
  • An explanation for how the heck Hopper ended up in Russia when the Upside Down is exclusively a portal between Hawkins and the Abyss.
  • Nancy revealing the experiments that the government ran on El's mom (and others) to the public, even if she doesn't reveal the Upside Down or anyone having powers. There's enough pushback against the government that El is able to, if not come out of hiding, safely contact her friends and family.
  • A meta-narrative where the show was a D&D campaign (or Tales from the Loop, Kids on Bikes, or other TTRPG that would fit the show better despite not having been around in the 80's), and the DM asks Jane if she's sure she wants to do this (sacrifice El, or at least force her into isolation) while subtly reminding her of other ways she can stay.
  • Jonathan looks for an abandoned house to film something in, and discovers that El is alive and has been squatting there.
