If you want to create a fanvid, here is my 2023 Spotify Wrapped so you can get an idea of my music tastes.
7/10/24 EDIT: I have recently learned that this link doesn't work. Have my Playlist in a Bottle instead while I figure out how to best share a proper sampler of my music tastes for the next time I request a fanvid.

Khyber Shards (Web Series)
Note to anyone who already knows Eberron but not Khyber Shards
A couple major changes are made from c/kanon lore for the show. I'd say the most significant one is the House Tarkanan backstory: the proto-House Tarkanan worked for the Twelve instead of the Dark Lanterns (although Thora is still a former Dark Lantern), and Thora didn't start House Tarkanan until after the War ended. When the Son of Khyber took over House Tarkanan (renaming it to the Children of Khyber), she did not stay to be his second in command. Instead, she moved to Stormreach and restarted there. In addition, despite Daine being called the Son of Khyber, the only major connection between him and the Daine | Son of Khyber from the Dreaming Dark and Thorn of Breland novels is that they're both aberrant-marked descendants of the Deneith family. Otherwise, Daine's backstory is rather different, having been on Thora's team when working for the Twelve and being a founding member of the Sharn House Tarkanan | Children of Khyber. Thora is also treated as more idealistic than she is in c/kanon, being the Professor X to the Son of Khyber's Magneto, as opposed to how in c/kanon she's trying to be Magneto herself when she's not content as a crime boss.

Another big change is the elves. They had their own city states, some working willingly with the Cul'Sir dominion instead of being slaves. While Shae Tirias Tolai was still sacked, it was not an elven city.

Finally, I know it's controversial, but one character has a gun, and it's treated as a normal part of the setting. No gunpowder is involved, though; it's a reflavoring of his Eldritch Blast.
Content Warnings
I debated back and forth on whether or not to consider this graphic violence, since I'd say it's usually fairly tame (non-visual, often abstracted to "he swings at your arm, dealing 28 slashing damage"). However, there are descriptions of gore on rare occasion. No graphic violence in the assigned episodes, though! Likewise, the closest there has ever been to an injury shown in any of the few visuals for the show is the fact that you can see a scar if you look very closely at one reoccurring NPC.

Major character death is very much a thing here (hence why it has been tagged), but the DM is also willing to find ways to bring the main characters back to life, either by making magical deals or just by the fact that you can bring back the dead in a D&D game. The aftermath of MCD is the focus of episode 151.

One of the characters is a ranger, so violence against animals is constant, including an animal who is akin to a pet/BFF to one of the main characters. Likewise, animal-like monsters end up being killed. There is a dead animal in episode 151.

Dysfunctional families are a reoccurring theme. Most aberrant-marked characters were disowned by their families for their marks. Of the few who weren't disowned, roughly half of them have dead immediate family. This isn't covered in significant detail, but is referenced nonetheless. In addition, there is an arc focusing on a girl who was abused and is lashing out (only covered in the recap).

While the main characters go out of their way to protect all children on the show (after they stop being adolescents themselves in the prologue), the children do get targeted by violence. This gets brought up and referenced in episode 38. (Some of the children will also willingly run into danger because they want to go on an adventure or help their parents.) No named children die, but unnamed children and teenagers are systematically killed in episode 2. Greymalkin Academy gets attacked or otherwise targeted more than once. You only get a hint of this at the very end of the assigned part of episode 68, but the implication is still there. No one at the school attempts to harm the children, though one character booby-traps his room to keep children out, and he ends up accidentally convincing a pair of children that he's going to hurt them. (This gets resolved.)

Terrorist attacks occur in multiple episodes, though not the episodes that I have assigned.

There is a devastating earthquake at the end of episode 110, and the destruction is repeatedly referenced afterwards.

There is a kidnapping, and attempted forced marriage, between an adult and a young woman whose age is ambiguous due to fey shenanigans. This does not occur in assigned episodes (other than the recap), and the relationship ends well (which is to say in the murder of the kidnapper). Otherwise, there are no underage relationships (all romantic relationships are between adults or are a case of one tween/early teen having a crush on another tween/early teen), although there has been a couple jokes about teen/adult relationships I've felt were in poor taste. I can count these jokes on one hand, thankfully, and don't occur in the episodes I recommended.

Grooming is alluded to but doesn't occur. In one romantic relationship, the older character states that he wants to take it slow since he acted as a mentor to a younger friend and he's concerned about having unintentionally groomed her (although the word grooming isn't used). She argues that she taught him important skills as well, but they still take it slow since she doesn't know how she feels due to being bad at emotions. This conversation doesn't come up in assigned videos.

Favorite characters: Thora, Ari, Thora, Esri, Thora, and have I mentioned that I adore Thora? Do note that if you choose to make Thora content, make sure to tag it as Thora Tavin (Khyber Shards) instead of just Thora Tavin, since the latter is a version of the character from an entirely different continuity.

Prompts
  • Recursive fanwork based on any of my Khyber Shards fics.
  • Blackwheel era slice-of-life, whether it be about Thora and her team or about our PC's (and maybe the friends they had at Blackwheel who were killed in the massacre 🥲, and the PC's have grieved and gotten over by the time the timeskip is over).
  • Slice-of-life at Greymalkin Manor. Kids trying to get away with something their teachers would rather they not do? Rubble Warren Gang sneaking on campus? The teachers trying to get a few hours of normal adult lives while avoiding the kids underfoot? Just a normal class? Sign me up!
  • Hurt/comfort set between the prologue and main story in which Thora heals from the burn w/Daine's help
  • I've requested this fandom a couple times before, so feel free to check out my prompts on the autoapp for more idea.
  • Animatic or comic of any of the moments from canon.
  • Canonically, there are no Blackwheel recruitment posters... but Philip also said that if there were Blackwheel recruitment posters, Thora would be on them. Could you draw the recruitment poster, please? Bonus points if there's a burnt version of the poster 😈
  • Any comfort-heavy Thora-focused hurt/comfort. As of 3/12/24, I have spent the last 4 weeks in a state of worry over Thora's unknown fate.
  • If you want some music recs, this playlist is full of songs that remind me of Thora and Daine's relationship.
  • Ageswap AU - the Greymalkin students (and maybe also River and the Rubble Warren Gang) are now the Blackwheel survivors and/or Greymalkin Staff and vice versa.
But honestly? I am starved for any content. As far as I know, I'm the only one who has written fanfic for this fandom, and there's only a couple pieces of fanart lying around.

The Magnus Protocol (Podcast) If you're reading this, then you have listened to all 200 episodes of The Magnus Archives and you want prompts related to that.

Ready? Then let's go.
  • Are Norris and Chester John and Martin? How do they get out of the computer?
  • Is Gwen at all related to Elias? Did Elias transition and rename herself Gwendolyn instead of being taken over by Jonah in this universe?
  • What's up with the fears?
  • Is there a way for the Protocol universe to contact the TMA universe?
  • I wrote a fic for this podcast, one that focuses on how there's a Celia in this universe who might also be the Celia of the original universe. Feel free to make a recursive fanwork based on that fic.

Not included in letter: The Omniverse Chronicles: Masks: A New Generation (Web Series). There was enough space in my sign-up for all my prompts, and none of them included huge spoilers

Sleepless Domain (Webcomic)So if you're here, you want prompts that contain massive spoilers for chapter 2 onwards. If you don't want spoilers for the webcomic, please close this prompt area until you're ready.

Ready?

Then without further ado...
  • What if a different Alchemical survived? Maybe Gwen cushioned the Earth for a softer impact, Sally cauterized her wounds, or Sylvia created a magical oxygen mask? Alternatively, fix-it so that multiple survived.
  • Angst focusing on one of the girl's dying thoughts.
  • AU where Undine and/or Tessa can talk to ghosts, especially the dead Alchemicals.

Also not included in letter due to space and lack of huge spoilers: Winx Club

Wonderful World of Darklords (Podcast)
Content Warnings
For a horror podcat, WWoD is rather family-friendly because it was made by two parents who wanted more podcasts to listen to when their kids are in the room. Normally, their especially triggering content goes in a section of the podcast specifically aimed at adults (and Rachel will give warnings and timestamps). Not everything is warned for, though, and anyone reading the write-ups won't get the trigger warnings.

Common triggers include
  • Harsh living situations, including a lack of food that sometimes leads to cannibalism
  • Oppressive governments, featuring scummy people in positions of power
  • Background character death
Also, while not typically considered a trigger per se, it's often referenced that Darklords have built-in plot armor - they can never be killed permanently. Likewise, most of them can never be fully removed from their positions of power, nor can the other horrible parts of their surrounding domain be changed. You will never stop the eternal winter that has consumed Arendelle. You will never be able to expose Ernesto de la Cruz as a fraud to everyone. This a fundamental part of how Ravenloft works.

If you were planning on reading the Domain write-ups (whether as your primary source or just for canon review), here they are. As promised, all the write-ups are 100% free, but I wanted to be better safe than sorry since people sell D&D material there. You will need an account to "purchase" the PDF's.

Prompts
  • Tell me about your Ravenloft PC (or your players' PCs) interacting with any of the Domains of Dread created in this podcast.
  • Slice-of-life within any of the created Domains - yes, they're horrible places to live, but they're places where people live. Surely it's not all bad 100% of the time. People are able to find hope in terrible situations.
  • Tell me the story of a hypothetical D&D party made of characters from these domains. Are they all making their way through Curse of Strahd? Are they fighting a Disney Villain? Bonus points if you include character sheets!
  • Write an adventure inspired by one of these Domains (preferably a Domain that provides story hooks that aren't "let's do the movie")
  • Eberron fans who don't want to do Khyber Shards: tell me about your Eberron PC's interacting with Hadestown. Or write an adventure about the feyspire of Hadestown.
  • Do something set in the Raven Nebula that was briefly mentioned in the Treasure Planet episode. I am not asking you to purchase the Raven Nebula. If you were to use the Raven Nebula, I am only asking you to base your work off of the free preview (and of course the Treasure Planet episode.) I haven't purchased the Raven Nebula either, so I wouldn't know any unique NPC's from the full PDF.
  • Some lady from I'Cath is Aurora's true love, and the lady from I'Cath has somehow connected with Aurora in their dreams.
  • The one thing that these domain writeups don't have from Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft is a guide to making characters from the domain. Perhaps you can write one up? If you don't have access to Van Richten's, here's an example from Barovia, the setting of the adventure Curse of Strahd:

Barovian Characters

A diverse populace dwells in Barovia, their ancestors drawn from lands long ago conquered by Count von Zarovich. The people favor dressing in muted but functional clothes, have a wide range of skin and hair colors, and often have names inspired by Slavic peoples. When players create characters from Barovia, ask them the following questions.

What was your life like in Barovia? Were you the child of a shepherd, vintner, or burgomaster? Was your life humble, or were you spared scarcity of coin and food? Did someone in your life vanish, or did you suffer some brush with the creatures of the night?

What superstitions do you cleave to? Is there something you do or say every morning or at night? Do animals—particularly bats, ravens, or wolves—feature in your superstitions? What superstitions do you have regarding coins, doorways, meals, or wounds?

Do you have recurring dreams or visions of unfamiliar experiences or past lives? Who were you in these dreams? What do they tell you about Barovia? Do you believe they hold any truth? Does Count Strahd von Zarovich feature in any of these visions?
