Fun fact about the details tag (no, not cuts) and dreamwidth's HTML: it seems like whether the tag is left open or closed in the rich text editor will determine if it defaults to open or closed in the published post

Huh, I checked and it really is true, which I guess is a case of the RTE actually working well with advanced stuff. In HTML, if you select it to be open, 'open=""' is appended, I see. Interesting stuff!
